DATA WEEK 2025
May 27 @ 8:00 am – May 28 @ 5:00 pm

The Data Week is the spring gathering of the Big Data and Data Driven AI research and innovation community in Europe.
Data Week always transcended the confines of a mere week-long discussion, as it embodied a fusion of several local and international events aimed at nurturing the field’s growth. Each event delved into various topics that adhere to a core theme. Data Week 2024 extended its activities and events over the year to accommodate the dynamic changes that data and AI bring to our businesses and society, connecting our meeting days with other relevant events, emphasising the need for collaboration.
Organised by BDVA, Data Week 2025 will center its focus on the fundamental elements of Data Value creation. Artificial intelligence (AI) serves as a pivotal tool in unlocking data value through various means and this is why our event`s theme is “Odyssey of AI: Navigating the Data Seas”. Creating value from data also requires viewing it from an ecosystem perspective and fostering collaboration among multiple stakeholders, which lays the groundwork needed for research excellence, that is required to be rapidly put into action for competitiveness and societal benefit.
This year, Data Week will be a 2-day physical event taking place in Athens, Greece between 27-28 May. The event is organised by the Big Data Value Association, hosted by Cosmote – OTE and in collaboration with the following BDVA members: Athens Technology Center S.A. (ATC), Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS), CORE Innovation Center, Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications – National Centre for Scientific Research “Demokritos”, FORTH and Neuropublic.
CERTAIN at Data Week 2025
CERTAIN will be hosting the Workshop “Automation Meets Accountability: The Future of Compliance in Artificial Intelligence and Data Spaces”. We will feature with our sister projects DataPACT, ACCOMPLISH and ACHILLES.
Date and time: 28 May 2025, @09:00-10:30
This session will explore the intersection of regulatory compliance, data spaces, and AI, focusing on how cutting-edge projects like ACCOMPLISH, DataPACT, and CERTAIN will be shaping the future of trustworthy and efficient AI ecosystems based on automated and AI-supported regulatory compliance. The four projects will provide insights into innovative frameworks for automating compliance, ensuring transparency, and fostering responsible data-sharing and data analytics practices. The discussion will emphasize the importance of aligning technological advancements with ethical, legal, and societal values to build trust in AI systems while addressing the challenges of compliance with a pool of general (e.g., GDPR, AI Act) and sector specific regulations.
The main objectives of this workshop are to showcase each presented project, offering in-depth insights into their implementation and demonstrating how their cutting-edge AI and data space solutions align with the latest regulatory, legal, and ethical frameworks. This session will also highlight best practices, challenges, and lessons learned by previous activities while fostering innovation. In addition, the discussion will explore the alignment of these projects with existing initiatives, emphasizing shared principles, synergies, and strategies for strengthening collaboration.
