CERTAIN Consortium Meets in Barcelona for 3rd General Assembly

Last week, partners of the CERTAIN Project came together in Barcelona for a productive and inspiring General Assembly. Bringing the Consortium together in person provided a valuable opportunity to review progress, align on shared objectives, and plan the next key milestones as the project moves into its next phase.

Over the past months, CERTAIN has reached several important achievements. Key project deliverables have been successfully submitted, covering legal, ethical, and societal requirements, as well as pilot planning and project management.

The Consortium also welcomed a new partner, University College Dublin (UCD), and introduced CERTAIN’s work to its Ethical Advisory Board, whose feedback is already strengthening the project’s approach to responsible and trustworthy AI.

Technical progress has accelerated across multiple work streams. CERTAIN has launched its first field research on the public acceptance of AI in Europe and beyond, developed questionnaires for pilot leaders, and advanced tools to support AI compliance and evaluation. The first ontology for the energy use case has been published, alongside early versions of customizable dashboards and model-logging tools tested within project pilots.

Cooperation with sister EU projects has also intensified, particularly around communication activities and technical alignment on regulatory compliance.

Looking ahead, CERTAIN partners are now focused on expanding pilot activities, deepening stakeholder engagement, and further integrating ethical, legal, and technical tools into practical AI systems.

The Barcelona meeting reaffirmed the Consortium’s shared commitment to supporting trustworthy, compliant, and socially responsible AI across sectors.
