The CERTAIN consortium convened its 4th General Assembly (GA) meeting on 16–17 June 2026 in Martigny, Switzerland, bringing together partners from across Europe to review progress, discuss ongoing activities, and define the next steps towards the project’s objectives.
The two-day meeting gathered representatives from the consortium both onsite and online, fostering collaboration across the project’s Work Packages (WPs) and providing an opportunity to align activities ahead of the upcoming periodic review.
Reviewing progress and planning the next phase
During the meeting, partners presented updates on their work and discussed achievements, challenges, and priorities for the coming months. All previous General Assembly and Executive Board actions were reviewed, with completed actions closed and new actions launched to support the continued implementation of CERTAIN activities.
Key discussions focused on ensuring strong coordination between Work Packages, strengthening links between technical developments and project outcomes, and preparing the consortium for upcoming milestones.
Advancing trustworthy AI and data space solutions
The meeting highlighted important progress across several areas of the project:
Ethics and responsible AI: Partners discussed the integration of ethics recommendations into project activities, including the role of ethics advisors and the use of assessment checklists to support responsible AI development.
Public deliverables and knowledge sharing: The consortium agreed to further disseminate public results, including deliverables such as D3.4, ensuring that CERTAIN outputs are accessible to stakeholders and the wider community.
AI assessment tools and sandboxes: Progress on AI assessment sandbox activities was reviewed, including the need to present developed tools and demonstrations in formats that can support future reviews and stakeholder engagement.
Data spaces and pilots: Partners discussed the deployment and validation of data space components across several pilots, including the Health Pilot, where collaboration between laboratory, clinical, and AI factory participants is progressing.
Standardisation activities: The consortium explored opportunities to strengthen CERTAIN’s contribution to standardisation, including through dedicated workshops addressing harmonised standards and ontology-related developments.
Sustainability and energy efficiency: Partners emphasised the importance of ensuring consistency between sustainability-related activities across different Work Packages and presenting these results as a coherent contribution to the project’s objectives.
Preparing for future dissemination and collaboration
The meeting also included discussions on future dissemination opportunities. Partners began preparations for presenting CERTAIN results at upcoming events, including a conference planned in Athens in May 2027, which will provide an important opportunity to showcase project outcomes and engage with the broader research and innovation community.
In addition, the consortium discussed the organisation of future workshops dedicated to standardisation and collaboration with related European initiatives.
Looking ahead
With the next General Assembly planned in Luxembourg and a subsequent meeting expected to take place in Athens, the CERTAIN partners continue to strengthen cooperation and advance the project’s mission of supporting trustworthy, compliant, and effective AI solutions.
The 4th General Assembly in Martigny marked another important milestone in CERTAIN’s journey, reinforcing the commitment of all partners to delivering impactful results for AI governance, assessment, and data-driven innovation.
